Make sure the settings on your deck have been gone through. At the time I had only paid about $20 shipped for it so the hit wasnt that bad but based on my experience and those of people on the DIYMA board, I cant recommend it especially for a novice. I tried one myself and it wasnt any better than the factory sub amp and in fact, it was worse. Nero, you are one of the handfulls of people that have had any luck with that oem Kicker amp. The other option I am considering is adding a 10" sub into the spare tire well, but I really hate to lose the spare tire. I would also like to know how you guys have run the wiring for amplifiers through the firewall and towards the back of the car. Stock EX sub housing with upgraded subwoofer? SOUNDSTREAM USB-8A under seat all in one sub/amp encosure, mounted under back seat (leaning towards this option) Kenwood KSC-SW10 under seat all in one amp/sub enclosure, mounted under back seat Pioneer TS-SWX251, not sure if it will mounted under the back seat at 5 7/8" high, think its too tall but could possibly mount somewhere else. These are some of the options I have been thinking of: I don't want to sacrifice any interior space but mounting something under the rear seat would work fine, we don't ever fold both seats up. My STOCK 4 speaker stereo in my 05 Dakota has 10x as much bass as the element, if I could get it to that level or just a bit beyond I would be perfectly happy. We don't need huge bass, just a little kick. That being said, I am looking to add a subwoofer to the system.

I just figured the stock speakers wouldn't last long with the new HU and that any speakers would be an upgrade to the stock speakers. I admit I didn't get really high end door speakers, just a $50 pair of sony explodes, and a $50 pair of pioneers. Somehow, this setup has LESS bass than the stock LX system, no matter how I adjust the settings on the HU. Over the weekend I installed a Kenwood DDX418 DVD receiver and some new 6.5" speakers all the way around in our 05 LX.
